StringMasters -- Lisbon 2018

At INESC-ID / IST, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal, 23-25 July, 2018

Format and purpose

StringMasters was established with the aim of bringing together researchers in string algorithms at all levels (senior, junior, especially graduate students) to study current problems of particular theoretical and practical interest. It is informal, with no scheduled presentations, entirely devoted to new research resulting from the interactions among the participants.

Typically small impromptu groups form, of about 2 to 5 researchers, who share a common interest in a problem. Old collaborations are reinforced, and new collaborations are formed. The workshop is accommodated in several meeting rooms to allow space for the parallel working groups and for general milling around.

All interested participants are welcome. To register, simply send an email to stringmasters@thor.inesc-id.pt, including your name and affiliation. Ten student scholarships up to 500€ each are available. Please apply on registration.

Program

There is no formal program. The workshop is held from the July 23 to July 25. (We plan to start at 9:30 on October 23.)

Participants of StringMasters are free to interact with each other or to form new research groups. Participants who have open problems to present will be asked to do so.

We plan to have a checkpoint presentation on the 24th in the afternoon.
